Mary Jane Ippolito

Mary Jane Ippolito, 94 of New Castle passed away the evening of March 22, 2022 in her residence.

Mary Jane was born September 1, 1927 in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Menchino) Sbarro. She was married to the late Raymond J. Ippolito, Sr who preceded her in death on February 20, 1996. They were married for 50 years. Mary Jane was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Parish. Mrs. Ippolito was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1945.

Mary Jane was known for her kind and loving heart; she put everyone’s needs before her own. She was very active in her church as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Monica’s in Wampum. Mary Jane was also a Girl Scout leader in Wampum, and she worked with Jameson Hospital with recording Flu vaccines.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially all her grandchildren. Above all else, Mrs. Ippolito will be remembered by her family as a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. 

Mary Jane is survived by two daughters, Beverly Capezio of New Castle, and Cynthia (James) Thomas of Boardman, OH; daughter-in-law, Toni-Marie Ippolito; two sisters, Rose Otlowski of New Castle and Audrey Stockmaster of Cleveland, OH.: six grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Raymond, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her two sons, John Ippolito and Raymond Ippolito, Jr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Holy Spirit Parish-Mary, Mother of Hope church. Rev. Benjamin Barr of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lucy’s Cemetery.
