Mary Ann Veltre, 89, of 261 Crimson Circle passed away the morning of November 16, 2023 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Mary Ann was born September 6, 1934 in Hillsville, PA. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Clara (Annichenni) Lupo. Mary Ann was married to the late Robert A. Veltre. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2020. They were married for 64 years. She was of the Roman Catholic faith and a member of Holy Spirit Parish. Mrs. Veltre was a graduate of Bessemer High School, class of 1953.
Mrs. Veltre will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She gave her time and talents in several volunteer roles during her child rearing years, including Brownie leader and President of the PTO. Mary Ann also worked outside of the home as a Head Bank Teller with the former Sky Bank and First National Bank. Mrs. Veltre enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, reading, and was a big fan of college football. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, and quilting was her love language, gifting all she loved with a handmade quilt (or two), lovingly designed and created especially for them.
Mary Ann is survived by her five children; three daughters, Michele Latina (John), Roseann Gabriel (Randy Keslar), and Laurie Weingartner (George), all of New Castle; two sons, Robert Veltre, Jr. (Delia), of Sewickley, PA, and David Veltre of New Castle; two sisters, Emily (Bill) Peters of Poland, OH, and Jean (Tony) Frasso of New Middletown, OH: two sisters-in-law, Carole Lupo of New Castle, and Barbara (David) Gennaro of Boardman, OH; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband Robert, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert and Marlene Lupo, and Norman (Sonny) Lupo.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street, New Castle.
A procession will leave the funeral home Monday at 12:30 p.m. for Holy Spirit Parish, Mary Mother of Hope site (124 N. Beaver Street, New Castle), where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. The Rev. Aaron Kriss Parochial Vicar of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Entombment will be Castleview Mausoleum. The family is asking that memorial donation by made in Mary Ann’s name to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75231.
