Michael Paul Budai, Jr.

May 8, 1938 ~ December 31, 2020 (age 82)


Michael Paul Budai Jr. passed away peacefully the morning of December 31, 2020 at the Grove Nursing Home in New Wilmington, PA.

He was born at home in New Castle, PA on May 8, 1938, to the late Michael Paul Budai Sr. and Sophia (Rutka) Budai.

On August 22, 1961, he married Constance (Connie) E. Arnold in Frostburg, Maryland.

Mike was an athlete extraordinaire and loved to participate in sports, especially football and baseball in High School. Through the years he played softball and baseball for many local teams. Other sports activities were bowling, golfing, hunting and fishing.

He graduated from Shenango High School, class of 1957. His interest in sports then continued by supporting the school’s athletic programs that his younger two brothers, Ken and Jan, and his son Jim participated in.

He served eight years in the United States Army Reserves and received an Honorable Discharge. He worked at Shenango China until its closure and then worked at Koppel Steel until his retirement. Mike was a hard worker and was willing to lend a hand to any and everyone who needed help.

He is survived by his wife, Constance (Connie), his son, James Budai, his grandson, Jordan Budai, brothers, Kenneth Budai, Jan (Gabriella) Budai, niece, Kylie (Shawn) Carr, and his great-niece, Kinsley Carr, all of New Castle.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter-in-law, Rebecca (Sobczak) Budai.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2020 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 S. Mill Street.

Burial will be in S.S. Philip and James Cemetery on Monday morning.
