Michael F. Smith

Michael F. Smith, 77, of New Castle passed away the morning of January 17, 2023 at the Avalon Nursing Center.

Born on June 27, 1945 in New Castle, Michael was the son of the late Chester L. and Mary M. (George) Smith.  He graduated from New Castle High School, class of 1963.  Michael married Darlene Hawkins on March 12, 1973. They were married for 48 years before her passing in 2021.

After graduation, Michael worked as a steelworker until retirement.  He loved hunting and working on cars.

He is survived by his children Kimberly (Chris) Carbone, TN, Melody (Keith) Guthrie, TN and Brian (Jessica) Smith, New Castle; Brother Billy Altmire of Las Vegas NV, and 6 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son Michael R. Smith, daughter Karen Smith, Brothers Adrian Smith and Ted Altmire and half-brother Robert B. Smith.
