Michael P, Tanner

Michael P. Tanner, 58, of Hickory Twp., passed away the evening of May 14, 2022 at his residence from a sudden illness. Michael was the son of the late Robert G. and Lucille C. (Stroia) Tanner. His mother recently passed in February of this year.

Mr. Tanner attended the Independent Methodist Church in New Castle. He was a graduate of Laurel High School, class of 1982.  Michael worked for over 30 years with Augustine’s Pizza in New Castle; he was the chief dough maker for the company. Michael had a love of wood working and going to the Roger’s Flea Market on the weekends with his friends. He absolutely loved watching the Pittsburgh Penguins. Michael would do anything for anybody, and would always end the conversation with “I love you” and “Talk to you later”.

Michael is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, LuAnne (Michael) Salak of New Castle; four nieces and nephews, Perry Salak, Tara Oliva, Sarahanne (Tyler) Kirkwood; a great-niece and great-nephew, Grace Oliva and Gavin Oliva.

Mr. Tanner was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his mother and father, Robert and Lucille Tanner, and younger brother, Deron Tanner.

Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 S. Mill Street, New Castle.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Frederick Gilbert of Independent Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery. The family is asking that memorial donations be made in Michael’s name to Independent Methodist Church,1921 New Butler Road, New Castle, PA 16101.
