Michael “Mickey” E. Zidow, 78, of New Castle passed away in his residence on Monday, June 1, 2020.
Michael was born May 5, 1942 in New Castle to the late Stephen and Agnes Palkovitch Zidow. Michael graduated from New Castle High School class of 1960. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock and his Master’s in Education degree from Westminster. Michael taught Spanish at New Castle High for 54 years and continued substituting into his retirement.
Michael was a Philanthropist and associated himself with many charitable causes. He had a love for music and the arts. Michael spent many years at the Heinz Hall and the Benedum in Pittsburgh. Through the years Michael became good friends with many people; he will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are his two sisters, Helen (Robert) Zidow Miller of New Castle, and Mary Ann Zidow Hord of Brandywine, MD; four nephews, Jamie (Alexandra) Mims, John (Nikki) Hord, Steven Hord, and Michael Miller; two great-nephews, Gavin Mims and Decklin Hord; three great-nieces, Caliegh Hord, Kaylee Mims, and Berona Mims.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Michael’s wishes no services will be held. Noga Funeral Home, Inc. was entrusted with his arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made, if desired, to charity of choice in Michael’s name.
