Patricia A. Monico, 86, of Skyhill Road, Edinburg passed away the afternoon of February 15, 2022 at her residence.
Patricia was born March 9, 1935 in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Nellie (Mrozek) Citanski. She was married to the late Nick R. Monico. He preceded her in death on October 9, 2016. They were married for 42 years. Patricia was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1953.
Mrs. Monico will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also worked outside the home and retired after 30 years of service with the United States Post Office as a mail carrier. Patricia enjoyed cooking for her family, shopping, and raising flowers. She loved spending time with her cat Midnight. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Monico is survived by her three daughters, Karen Sherry of Edinburg, PA, Sherri (David) Brice of New Castle, Nicki (Leo) Golba of Naples, FL; two sons, Ralph (Barbara) Monico of Pittsburgh, PA, and William Monico of Naples, FL; and Susan Court Dove of Kerrville, TX (who Patricia raised with her children); twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband Nick, Patricia was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth E. Gottberg; five brothers, Alex Citanski, Frank Tarnaski, Fred Tarnaski, Stanley Tarnaski, and Kenneth Citanski; four sisters, Stella Smith, Peggy List, Sophia Shane, Sylvia Ambrosia; and brother-in-laws, Ronald and Joe Monico.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill Street, New Castle.
A funeral service will be celebrated immediately following visitation in the funeral home. Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery. The family is asking that memorial donations be made in Patricia’s name to the Lawrence County Humane Society, 628 Pearson Mill Rd, New Castle, PA 16101.
