Peter Thaddeus (Ted) Budzowski, 97 of New Castle passed away the morning of August 9, 2023
Ted was born December 3, 1925 in New Castle. He was the son of the late Marshall and Julia (Dobelak) Budzowski. Ted married the former Jeannie H. Presnar. They were married for 63 years. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2014. He was Roman Catholic and a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Mary Mother of Hope Site.
Ted was a United States Naval Veteran, serving during WWII; he entered service on April 10, 1944 serving as a Baker Second Class on multiple ships and stations. He received the European Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, and Victory Medal, Ted was Honorably Discharged on June 24, 1946.
Ted and his wife were co-owners of the former New Model Bakery for over 50 years. He started his bakery career as a young child working for his father in the family business, waking in the wee hours of the morning, delivering bread to various businesses and then walking to school to start his school day. He took a hiatus from the bakery when he served in the US Navy and returned to the bakery after the war. To this day, people still approach family members about how they miss the favorite baked goods that they grew up loving that he and his faithful employees put on the shelves on a daily basis. His children grew up working for their mom and dad, developing their work ethic from two hardworking parents.
Ted’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson. He loved gardening, fishing and travelling with Jeannie and a large group of friends to Polka dances throughout the region. He’s now reunited with his favorite dance partner. He was a longstanding member of the Polish Falcons, Nest 146, member of the fraternal order of the Eagles, and the T.O.W. Jagielly Society. He was a voracious reader and continued to learn new concepts his whole life. He would constantly clip articles he felt would be of interest to others and shared with family and friends. In addition, he liked researching and investing in the stock market.
Ted is survived by three children, his sons, Rick (Bonnie) Budzowski of Pittsburgh, and David M. (Hazel) Budzowski of Pensacola Beach, FL; daughter, Marcia (Jeffrey) Cox, of New Castle; three grandchildren, Meagan Budzowski, Samantha Taylor Hazel Budzowski, and Dylan Nicole Helen Budzowski; and great-grandson, Charlie VanKirk.
In addition to his wife Jeannie and his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara J. Caldwell, Irene Pascarella; and brother, Julian Budzowski.
