Phillip L. Clark, 94, of Union Township, passed away the morning of November 6, 2021, at Rhodes Estates. Phillip was born September 23,1927 in New Castle, the son of the late Charles W. and Mary (Wanatosky) Clark. He graduated from Union High School in 1945 and attended Westminster College. During this time, in addition to running in the backfield and marching in the band, he worked the night shift at The Johnson Bronze for his brothers,Harold and Jack, who were fighting in Europe and needed the bearings. He was married to his beloved wife Pauline (Burgess) Clark, on the 19th day of October,1947 until she predeceased him in 2012. Phillip was a proud member of Ironworkers Local 207 for many years. He was especially proud of his work on the construction of the Emlenton Bridge, which at the time was the tallest bridge on the entire Interstate system. He was blessed with a beautiful voice, and he enjoyed sharing his talents with many --singing at weddings ( "Ave Maria" was his favorite), in musicals, in the St. Mary's choir, and during his unofficial residency at "The Music" in Stuart, Florida.
He is survived by his four children, Kathleen (David) Kegarise, Linda (Joe) Chrillo, Kelly Currie, and Attorney Phillip (Alice) L. Clark, Jr., his grandchildren, Katie (Brad) Kegarise, Sarah Kegarise, Annie (Dan) Kegarise, Kelly (Jeff) McArdle, Attorney Jonathan Chrillo, Attorney Jason (Maria) Currie, Amanda (David) Bashline, Lindsey Clark, Ashley (Jashan) Clark, Emily (Heath) Shaffer, and great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Charles, Emme, Theresa, Brenden, Abby, Rosalind, Emma, Norah, and Henry. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Phillip was preceded in death by son-in-law Dennis Currie, four brothers, Walter, Billy, Harold, and Jack; brother-in-law Richard Burgess; sisters-in-law Agnes Clark, Mary Clark, Marjorie Burgess, nephew John Clark and niece Debbie Burgess.
A private memorial service will be held for the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home, 1142 South Mill Street, New Castle, Pennsylvania 16101.
