Raymond W. Boyd, 80, of 1035 Maryland Ave. passed away the morning of September 18, 2024 surrounded by his family at Quality of Life Services.
Raymond was born August 11,1944 in New Castle. He was the son of the late Raymond W. and Anne (Flemming) Boyd. He was married to the former Patricia A. Marketich. They were married for 59 years. She survives at home.
Following high school, Raymond enlisted in the United States Navy on December 6, 1961 and was Honorably Discharged on January 17, 1962. Mr. Boyd worked for numerous years in the manufacturing department at the Veka Corporation. He retired after many years of service as a security guard at the former Ellwood City Hospital. Raymond loved to sit on his porch where he greeted everyone in the neighborhood. He also enjoyed the simpler things in life, like outdoors and just being in the sunshine. Mr. Boyd loved having cookouts and joking around with his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Patricia, Raymond is survived by his three children, Tiffany A. (Philip) Vanasco of New Castle; Darren Lee Boyd of New Castle; and Rhonda L. (Ronald) Brickey of Statesville, N.C.; two sisters, Cathy Ann Paolucci of Canfield, OH; and Silvia Altman of Florida; three grandchildren Amanda (Jamie) Adkins, Devon Vanasco, Adalynn Vanasco and one great-grandchild, Luke Adkins, and several nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sonny Boyd; and sister, Billie Jean Houk.
The family would like to thank the staff at Quality Life Services for the excellent care that they gave Ray over the past 16 months. The nurses and aids became family to him during his time there.
Following Raymond's wishes there are no calling hours or services scheduled at this time. Local arrangements are entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street, New Castle.
