Rebecca E. Bonk

Rebecca E. Bonk, 79, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford on April 16, 2022 with her family at her side.

Rebecca was born in New Castle on May 4, 1942 to Edward and Catherine Barnes. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1960. She was married for 58 years to Robert Bonk, who recently died in January. She was also preceded in death by both her parents.

Becky is survived by her two daughters; Brenda (Michael) Polanichka of Simi Valley, CA and Bonnie Bonk of Seven Fields, PA along with grandchildren Jordan (Paul) Zdinak and Taylor Polanichka, and her sister Sally (Don) Patterson of Laguna Niguel, CA along with nieces and nephews.

Rebecca was a graduate of Jameson School of Nursing and Slippery Rock University summa cum lauda. She worked for 44 years as a nurse at UPMC Jameson, UPMC Farrell and Sharon Regional Hospitals. 

She was a member of the New Castle Order of the Rainbow for Girls where she served as Worthy Advisor, the Red Hat Society, and the Holy Trinity Church in New Castle where she taught Sunday school for many years with her husband. She enjoyed doing daily crossword puzzles with her morning cup of tea.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill Street, New Castle, PA 16101.

A Blessing Service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Msgr. John A. Rencewicz, II of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Castleview Cemetery.
