Robert G. Cowan, Sr.

Robert G. Cowan, Sr., 87 of New Castle passed away the evening of April 28, 2026 with his family by his side.

Robert was born July 17, 1938 in Ellwood City, PA. He was the son of the late John and Leona (Chieze) Cowan. Robert was married to the former Jane Boyd, she survives at home. They were married for 66 years. Mr. Cowan was Roman Catholic.

Mr. Cowan worked at the former Babcock & Wilcox for 25 years as a bricklayer. He retired after 10 years of service as a bricklayer and Supervisor at Ellwood Quality Steel. Robert enjoyed working outdoors building and remodeling homes. He loved watching cowboy movies, country music and listening to all music with his son. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Jane, Robert is survived by his daughters, Diane (Dan) Papa; Debbie Cowan; Jodi (Todd) DuBrock and Carol (Kevin) Cowan-Crawford; one son, Robert G. (Somer) Cowan, Jr., two brothers, Ronald and David, six grandchildren, Brandon (Sara) Papa, Madison (Jason) Allen, Mackenzie (Andrew) Marsh, Stacey (Jered) Knepp, Marc Crawford and Angelina Esquivel-Cowan; and also his great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cowan was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack Cowan and Edward Cowan.

A private funeral service will be held on today for his immediate family at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. Rev. Richard Nero will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is asking memorial donations to be made in his name to Parkinson's Foundation,1350 Broadway, Ste 1530, New York, NY 10018
