Russell P. Uram, 87, of Glendale Ave. New Castle passed away the evening of May 3, 2024 at UPMC Jameson.
Russell was born on March 6, 1937 in New Castle. He was the son of the late Andrew and Ann (Yatsko) Uram. Russell was married to the late Floreen M. Colella. She preceded him in death on September 10, 2010. They were married for 53 years. Mr. Uram was Roman Catholic and attended Holy Spirit Parish. Following graduation, Russell attended Youngstown State University.
Mr. Uram enlisted in the United Sates Navy on August 30, 1955 in New Castle, PA. Russell earned the rank of Seaman First Class. He was also Torpedoman’s Mate Third and Second class, earned this rating on January 25, 1956. Mr. Uram was assigned to the USS “Dogfish” Submarine at New London, Conn. Russell was Honorably Discharged on January 26, 1958 in New London, Conn. Mr. Uram worked for numerous years as an Industrial Engineer at the former Youngstown Sheet and Tube. Russell retired as a Clerk for the Pennsylvania State Liquor Store here in New Castle. He was a life member of both, the Polish Falcons, Nest #146, and Slovak Club. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid sports fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren; he attended all of their sporting events.
Russell is survived by his four children, Cheryl Ann Paolini, Andrea Uram, and Rusty P. (Jodi) Uram, all of New Castle, and Richard S. (Cathy) Uram of Toledo, OH; brother, James (Patricia) Uram of New Wilmington, PA; sister, Dianne (Edward) Moses of New Castle; twelve grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife Floreen, Russell was preceded in death by his brother, John Uram; and grandson, Matthew Paolini.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill Street, New Castle PA. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full Military Honors for Russell at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
A Blessing service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit parish will officiate. Burial will be in S.S. Philip and James Cemetery.
