Ruth A. (Pherson) McCracken

Ruth A. McCracken, 92, formerly of New Castle passed away the morning of December 28, 2020 with her family by her side in Brookville, PA.

Ruth was born October 18, 1928 in Volant, PA. She was the daughter of the late John and Ellen (McConaghy) Pherson. Ruth was married to the late Willard McCracken. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1999. Ruth was a graduate of Harlansburg High School, class of 1946. Mrs. McCracken was of the Protestant faith.

Mrs. McCracken will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Ruth gave her all to her family and was an excellent cook and baker. Ruth enjoyed traveling with her children. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her numerous grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth E. (Jesse) Pike of Charlotte, NC; P. Jane (Jim) McKillip of Brookville, PA, and Barbara A. Frazee of Edinburg, PA; sister, Joanne (Hugh) Forbes of New Castle; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Willard, Ruth was preceded in death by, four brothers Robert, Donald, William, and Perry O. Pherson; five sisters, Marian Haley, Dorothy Hogue, Martha Maupin, Agnes Litzenberg, and Mary E. Cline.

Private visitation for immediate family will be held on Friday, January 1, 2021 from 11a.m. to 1p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street, New Castle.

A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation in the funeral home. Pastor Mike Bruno of Slippery Rock will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery.
