Shirley Ann Martwinski, 85 of 380 Villa Dr. Villa Maria PA 16155 passed away the evening
of November 19, 2022 at her home surrounded by her children.
Shirley was born March 12, 1937 in Hermitage. She was the daughter of the late Frank
and Mildred (Shannon) Mead. Shirley was married to Tom Martwinski for over 65 years.
Shirley was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in West Middlesex. Shirley was
a graduate of Sharon High School, class of 1955.
Shirley was the long-time secretary at St. Joseph the Worker Parish and established her
own Notary Business in 1975 and continued that successful business for over thirty years.
She was a member of the Mercer County and Harrisville Community Bands and was known
for her exceptional tone as a trombonist. She was a member of the Polish Falcon, Nest
#146. Tom and Shirley were members of St. Joseph the Worker Parish for 44 years. For
over 25 years they were counselors of the premarital retreats, guiding hundreds of couples
through the sacred experience of marriage. Shirley was an excellent seamstress. She
delighted in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and she remembered
every birthday and anniversary. Shirley relished a good day of golfing and was competitive at
every card or table game she played. Shirley and Tom valued friendships and family
connections and were the ones who traveled far and wide to keep those connections.
Shirley was a woman of deep faith and she faced cancer with perseverance, grace and
courage.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, her parents, two sisters, and two
brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Kim Ann (Thomas) Schwartz of Colerain, NC
and Sherry Ann (Mike) Herrera-McLaren of Colorado Springs, CO; one son, Tom (Beth)
Martwinski of Leesburg VA, one brother, Jack Mead of Bel Air, MD; five brothers-in-law, two
sisters-in- law, ten grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren along with beloved nephews,
nieces, cousins and many dear friends.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Noga Funeral
Inc., 1142 Mill Street New Castle.
A procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 9:45 am for
The Church of Good Shepherd where a Mass of Christian Burial and Rite of Committal will
be held at 10:30 am. Rev. Glenn Whitman, will officiate. Burial to be in Hillcrest Memorial
Park in Hermitage. Memorial gifts can be made to The Church of the Good Shepherd
