Sophie Jereb 88, of 12 11th Street Bessemer, PA passed away the morning of December 30, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, OH.
Sophie was born November 13, 1933 in New Castle. She was the daughter of William and Mary (Bogdjewicz) Klabon. She was married to Frank Jereb for 66 years, he survives at home. Mrs. Jereb was Roman Catholic and a member of Holy Spirit Parish-St. Anthony Church. She attended Shenango High School.
Mrs. Jereb will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, sister, and Grammy. Sophie was known for her baking; especially her wedding cookies. She loved cooking for her family and going to the casino. She also loved polkas and she met her husband at a Bessemer Croatian Club dance.
In addition to her husband Frank, Sophie is survived by her son, James (Linda) Jereb of Murphy, NC; daughter, Lisa (Chris) Gilboy of Freehold, NJ; two sisters, Louise (William) Kielar of Poland, OH; Annie (Chester) Warzyla of Twinsburg, OH; and sister-in-law Patricia Klabon of New Castle, PA; and two grandchildren, Matthew (Danielle) Gilboy of Baltimore, MD and Kevin (fiance: Anisha) Gilboy of Cincinnati, OH.
Mrs. Jereb was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Joseph, John, William and Paul Klabon; and four sisters, Agnes Ronan, Mary Murdock, Helen Robosky, and Jenny Koprivnak.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday January 2, 2022 and Monday, January 3, 2022 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street, New Castle. A Blessing Service will be celebrated following visitation in the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
