Stella J. (Jaworski) Jurina

Stella J. Jurina, 90, of New Castle, passed away peacefully at home the morning of July 13, 2026. Stella was born in New Castle, PA to the late Jennie (Smialowski) and Frank “Dobby” Jaworski on April 27, 1936.

Stella was married 36 wonderful years to her devoted husband, Michael “Ike” Jurina. Stella was a wonderful wife and mother to her family and worked behind the desk of M&M Floor Covering for 50 years. Stella graduated with the Class of 1954 from Union High School. She loved keeping her car spotless and her yard impeccable. Her grandchildren have many fond memories of Gramma Stella coming inside dirty and exhausted from yard work. Stella was an avid lover of Polka music and went every chance she got. Gambling was another hobby, and she always enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City with friends, especially her mother, Jennie, and long time friend, Helen Peluso. 

Stella is survived by her daughter, Katherine M. Preisel of Knox, PA; son, Frank M. Jurina of New Castle; older sister, Patricia Monstwil of New Castle; five grandchildren: Jason Preisel, Heather Jurina, Mary Preisel Brown, Hilary Jurina Hilke (Rob), and Katelyn DeLay (Philip); nine great-grandchildren: Vincent Zorens & Sean Jurina; Jaiden, Emma, Alexa, Brody, & Cooper DeLay; Alder & Scarlett Brown; along with loving nieces and nephews, and close family friend and support, Shannon Shields.

In addition to her parents and husband, Stella was reunited in heaven with her brother Frank “Frun” Jaworski, her brother-in-law, Walter J. “Mooney” Monstwil, and her grandson, fellow Polka lover Ryan Brown(-ski), as she affectionately dubbed him.

In honoring her wishes, Stella will have a graveside Blessing Service at Madonna Cemetery, Friday, July 17, 2026 at 11 a.m. Deacon John Carran from Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. A Celebration of Life will follow at Cornerstone Community Church: 910 N Croton Ave, New Castle.
