Walter V. (June) Ditz, Jr. 77 of 115 Pike Ave. New Castle passed away the morning of July 3, 2021 at his residence with his family.
Walter was born July 20, 1943 in Marble, PA. He was the son of the late Walter V. and Dorothy (Swartzfager) Ditz, Sr. He was married to the former Patricia A. Risinger. They were married for 54 years (May 1967). Walter was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Ditz was a graduate of North Clarion High School, class of 1961.
Following high school, Walter enlisted in the United States Army on January 11, 1965 at Fort Hamilton, NY. Walter severed his country during the Vietnam War as a Multi-Engine Aircraft Mechanic. Mr. Ditz received many decorations and citations, among those were the National Defense Service Medal and expert Rifleman. Walter was released to the United States Army Reserves and Honorably Discharged on January 10, 1971 in Pittsburgh PA. Mr. Ditz worked on his family farm, Bacon Acres, raising livestock for the majority of his life. He also worked as a Road master for 27 years in Washington Twp., Clarion County, Pa. Mr. Ditz's family was the most important thing in his life. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed visits with his family and friends, taking drives and trips with loved ones, having a good meal, and talking about the weather.
In addition to his wife Patricia, Walter is survived by his son, Vincent (Jill) Ditz; two daughters, Beverly (DJ) Lauer of Shippenville, PA and Laura Ditz and her fiance Richard Cron of New Castle, PA; brother, Robert Ditz of Mercer, PA; and thirteen grandchildren, Bradley, Matthew, Andy, Cortney, Joel, Kelsey, Derek, Larissa, Lexi, Devon, Lacey, Breyona, and Alleya.
Mr. Ditz was preceded in death by both his parents.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 2 to 4pm at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street, New Castle, PA 16101.
A Funeral service will immediately follow visitation in the funeral home. Pastor Lawrence Smith of Mulberry Community Church will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
