Wilhelm Both Obituary

Wilhelm M. Both, 79, of Harlansburg Road passed away unexpectedly the evening of August 12, 2020 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Wilhelm was born August 22, 1940 in Kreisch, Romania. He was the son of the late Andreas and Marie Elizabeth (Paal) Both. Wilhelm was married to the former Dolores A. Garczewski. They were married for 43 years. She survives at home. Mr. Both was of the Lutheran faith.

Mr. Both worked as an assembler at the former Rockwell International, Spring Division in New Castle.  He retired from the maintenance department at Essroc Corporation in Hillsville, PA. Wilhelm was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing at his camp in Tionesta, PA. He was a lifelong member of the Eintracht Singing Society for over 59 years, and served as a Trustee. Wilhelm sang with the Eintracht Mannerchor for over 53 years. Mr. Both belonged to the 66 card tournament group. He was a member of the Polish Falcons, Eagles and Moose clubs. Wilhelm would volunteer at the annual Oktoberfest at Cascade Park and volunteered with the Accordion Festival in Bessemer and Farrell, PA. Mr. Both was a Constable at the Evangelical Community Church voting site in Lawrence County. Mr. Both also enjoyed dancing to Polka music and traveling with his wife in Europe and the United States.

In addition to his wife Dolores, Wilhelm is survived by two brothers, Andreas G. (Judith) Both and Daniel (Patricia Ann) Both, all of New Castle; sister, Elisabeth (John) Kirr of Youngstown, OH; sister-in-Law, Barbara Garczewski of New Castle; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Both was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Sophie Garczewski.

A Private viewing for immediate family will be held on Monday August 17, 2020 at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street, New Castle.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Monday. Pastor John Yergan will officiate. Burial will be private at Oak Park Cemetery. Donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
