William V. Evans, Jr.

William V. Evans, Jr. 83 of 6 W. Sheridan Ave. New Castle passed away the evening of October 19, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side.

William was born May 1, 1937 in New Castle. He was the son of the late William V. and Johanna (Kranski) Evans Sr. William was married to the former Jean Martell. She survives at home. They were married for 63 years. Mr. Evans was Roman Catholic and attended Holy Spirit Parish. William was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1955.

Following graduation, William enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 17, 1955 in Pittsburgh. He was Honorably Discharged on September 20, 1964 at Lockbourne Air Force Base, Ohio.  

He continued his education and graduated from Durham College in 1958. Mr. Evans retired after 25 years as a Corporate Pilot. Mr. Evans had a large car collection. He was a member of the Rapid Tappets Car club, and the Mercury Car club of America. His enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren

In addition to his wife Jean, William is survived by three daughters, Lonnie (Raymond) Rieder of New Castle, Bobbie Jean (Rody) Rodocker of Pittsburgh, Lorrie Lee (Rich) Hohenbrink of Pittsburgh; and William V. (Linda) Evans III, of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and his loving dog Hailey and cat, Chaz.

Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John Evans and Edward Evans; three sisters, Dorothy Magusiak, Betty Jean Yoho, and Florence Evans. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military honors for William at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

A Funeral Service will be held immediately following the Honor Guard service in the funeral home. Pastor Marsha Parrish, Chaplin of Family Hospice will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
