William "Bill" A. Bessell

William “Bill” A. Bessell, 88 of 2915 Cornell Avenue, New Castle passed away peacefully the afternoon of June 13, 2021.

Bill was born on June 30, 1932 in New Castle PA to the late William and Ethel L. (Milleman) Bessell.  He was married to the late Delores Glenn.  She preceded him in death in 2005.  He attended Shenango High School and was of the Christian faith and attended Clifton Flats Alliance Church.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Army and was a Sergeant during the Korean War.  He retired from Local #66 Operating Engineers as a Heavy Equipment Operator.  Mr. Bessell was a devout Christian and loving father. He could build or fix anything at any time and he loved running his bull dozer.

Mr. Bessell is survived by his daughter Loraine Leasure of Ellwood City; Special Companion Evelyn Duncan of New Castle; Grandchildren Anthony Tammaro and Jessica (Bud) Main; Great Grandchildren Kennedy and Jameson Main; Sisters Suzanne Stock of New Castle and Bonnie J. (Mike) Kapraly of New Castle.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Bessell and sister-in-law Shirley Bessell; brother-in-law, James “Hap” Stock; and niece, Sherry Kapraly Passinault.

Following in Bill’s wishes there are no calling hours and a memorial service will be held by his family at Clifton Flats Alliance Church on June 26, 2021 at 1 PM.
